“brand new modern glass extensions”

Vitrendo was featured within May’s issue of Real Homes as a part of their ‘Let in the Light’ article. Natural light is a proven component of a healthy living space. A Vitrendo glass extension is fully glazed on three sides and the roof with minimal framing to interrupt natural light ingress.

The article highlighted the price difference between a bespoke architecturally designed glass extension and a modular (pre-designed) approach such as the Vitrendo Glass Extension.

Currently the Vitrendo box costs are around £3000 per m2 of floor area, if the project is located within the M25.

The design, by Smerin architects, utilises the full extent of IQ Glass’ knowledge and expertise with frameless structural glass and slim framed door systems. The roof is supported by a channel against the original building and a steel support at the head of the doors. Where the panels meet together a slim structural silicone joint is used to seal the units together. These hidden and minimal supporting methods create a frameless glass roof allowing as much natural light in as possible.

Vitrendo extensions are flexible to suit each home owner or property design but normally slim framed sliding doors are used on the larger face ‘letting light in’ whether the doors are open or closed. The added benefit of these opening methods is that the flush floor track and frameless appearance at the base of the sliding doors contributes towards an ‘indoor-outdoor’ living space which is a popular attribute of contemporary extension solutions.
